소음을 둘러싼 갈등이 살인 범죄로 귀결된 사례로는 2010년 생선장수 살해 사건(트럭에서 확성기를 틀어놓고 장사하던 생선 장수의 소리 때문에 텔레비전 시청을 방해받았다는 이유로 거주민이 생선 장수를 흉기로 찔러 살해한 사건), 2013년 서울 면목동 사건(위층의 층간소음에 항의하던 거주민이 위층 이웃의 형제 두 명을 흉기로 찔러 살해한 사건), 2017년 양산 아파트 밧줄 절단 사건(밧줄에 매달려 아파트 외벽 보수 작업을 하던 노동자가 틀어놓은 음악이 시끄럽다며 거주민이 밧줄을 절단해 추락사하게 만든 사건), 2021년 여수 아파트 사건(층간소음에 불만을 품은 30대 남성이 위층에 사는 일가족에게 흉기를 휘둘러 부부를 숨지게 하고 그들의 부모까지 상해를 입힌 사건), 2025년 천안 아파트 사건(층간소음 갈등으로 윗집의 70대 이웃 주민에게 흉기를 휘두른 40대 남성이, 다친 피해자가 아파트 관리사무소로 도망가 문을 잠그자 자신의 승용차를 몰고 관리사무소로 돌진해 문을 부수고 들어가 결국 피해자를 살해한 사건) 등이 있다.

Cases in which noise-related disputes have ended in homicide include: the 2010 fishmonger murder (a resident, claiming that the loudspeaker noise from a truck-vending fishmonger interfered with his television viewing, stabbed and killed the fishmonger); the 2013 Myeonmok-dong incident in Seoul (a resident, after complaining about floor-noise from upstairs, fatally stabbed two brothers of his upstairs neighbour); the 2017 Yangsan apartment rope-cutting incident (a resident, irritated by music played by a worker repairing the building's exterior while suspended on a rope, cut the rope and caused the worker to fall to his death); the 2021 Yeosu apartment incident (a man in his thirties, angered by floor-noise, attacked the family living upstairs with a knife, killing the couple and injuring the couple's parents); and the 2025 Cheonan apartment incident (a man in his forties attacked his upstairs neighbour, a woman in her seventies, with a knife in a floor-noise dispute; when the wounded victim fled to the apartment management office and locked the door, he drove his car into the office, broke down the door and killed her).
